Premio Letterario "Giuseppe Berto": a literary prize dedicated to the famous Italian writer Giuseppe Berto. This prize was settled by towns of Ricadi and Mogliano Veneto, twinned on 10th October 1986. The prize goes to a novel written in Italian by a debutant. The ceremony of the prize-giving takes place a year in Ricadi and a year in Mogliano Veneto. In Capo Vaticano it takes place in the park of the villa where the writer lived.
Premio Sportivo: this sport event wants to promote the love for Calabria and awards are given to sportsmen and sportswomen, to sport journalists, etc. from Calabria.
Camjuzzu ì Focu: this ball is the symbol of the banishment of Muslims that for a short period governed Tropea. They travelled on their camels. This feast is actually a feast against deployment and arrogance. In the ball there is a camel built with reeds filled with gunpowder. During the night a man takes the camel and brings it in the place where the ball will take place. He starts to dance while drums are played. The gunpowder is lit and from the camel smoke and fire raise. The man dances until the last spark.
Ballo dei Giganti: this dance is made by two enormous paper giants: Mata, the beautiful princess, with almond eyes and a rosy complexion, and Grifone, the prince who’s in love with the princess. They are brought through the streets of the town by two men showing only their own legs. The two giants dance performing a courtship. Mata tries to escape: she approaches and goes away from him. Drums play in very strongly.
Sagra della cipolla rossa: this festival is dedicated to red onions on 13th August. Red onions are a typical product, exported all over the world.
Sagra del gelato: this festival is dedicated to ice-creams (in July). There is also an ice-cream made with onions.
