Reggio Calabria Film Fest: this film festival is dedicated to Italian cinema. The aim of the event is to have a comparison between past and modern Italian films. During this event an important prize, "Leopoldo Trieste Award - Città di Reggio Calabria" is conferred to two emerging protagonists of Italian cinema.

Festival dello Stretto: this festival is an ethnic and music event. It is very important and artists use their dialects to tell the story of Southern Italy, of habits, of events from the past, etc.

Reggio Day: a day dedicated to Italian people whose surname comes from Reggio.

Regata di Ulisse: this sport event takes place in September and lasts five days. The boat- race is dedicated to Magna Graecia and to Ulysses’ journeys.

Festività della Madonna della Consolazione: the feast dedicated to Our lady starts on the second Saturday of September and lasts a week. There is a typical procession that goes from the basilica dell’Eremo to the Cathedral. There is a market; there are merry-go-rounds and some shows. People come also from Sicily. The icon of the Virgin is said to have saved the town from plagues and Turkish invasions. Since 1752 Our Lady has been the patron of the town.

Notte Bianca: at the end of summer, just like in Paris, there are shows, performances, visits to museums and monuments, shopping that last all night.
