Reggio is the town of Morgana fairy! This is a mirage in which the image people see changes rapidly its shape; it is called Morgana fairy because the image is reproduced some feet above the ground, just like the apparitions of the homonymous character in the Arthurian cycle. This optical phenomenon takes place in the morning, when the light gives the possibility to see it. Very small drops of rarefied water act just like a magnifying lens. The coast of Sicily seems to be really close, a few meters far from Calabria coast. People can see houses, cars and even people walking through the streets in Messina. According to a legend, a Barbarian king tried to conquer the isle...swimming, because he had been deceived by this "phenomenon". Then he realised it was not possible and he died in the sea.
