Processione dei Turchi: this procession takes place on 29th May when there is the celebration of the Patron, Saint Gerard. The procession recalls the arrival of Turks in 1111 led by the Grand Turk. Saint Gerard helped the town sending his angels to illuminate the town, thus allowing the soldiers to defend it and to make invaders escape. During the procession the Grand Turk is brought in a carriage (called giuvuddine pascià) and he smokes a pipe. Then there is the carriage bringing the Saint, this carriage has the shape of a ship. While the procession passes, citizens throw yellow flowers from their windows.
