Perugia, together with Terni and Foligno, is the most important town of Umbria. There is a very important company, Perugina, founded in 1907. At the beginning it was only a small laboratory that produced sugared almonds. Now it is the symbol of chocolate. It has become famous thanks to its tasteful products: Bacio Perugina (chocolate), Rossana (candies), Ore Liete (biscuits), and the dark chocolate, Luisa. Perugina has created the first school dedicated to chocolate. It can be visited.

In Perugia there is the illustrious University for Foreigners and a famous school dedicated to journalism, Scuola di Giornalismo Radiotelevisivo, managed by Rai.

Perugia has one of the most advanced administrations in Italy from a technological point of view.
