Cagliari is in a strategic position, among beaches, hills and lagoons. It has always been the heart of the region, thanks to its port and to its rich commercial life.

Today the town is the most important port of the region, the economical and political leader of Sardinia.

The most important resource is tourism, thanks to the wonderful coasts, the beautiful sea and beaches, the charming nature with its treasures, for example the pink flamingos. Poetto beach is very loved by tourists: it has more than 7 km of sandy beach, nice bars and restaurants, and comfortable facilities. The small port of Marina Piccola is really charming, with its coloured boats.

Handicraft is very well developed, too. Carpets, curtains, wrought iron objects, ceramics, terracotta, are the most important and loved products and represent a really fundamental tradition of the town and of Sardinia.
