Bari is a very active town and technology is very well developed.

An important trade fair takes place here; it is Fiera del Levante (first made in 1930) that was organized to develop relationships with the Eastern world.

Bari is an important cultural town (thanks also to the presence of Laterza publishing house). It is also a developed agricultural, commercial and industrial town (food, paper, tobacco, wood, concrete are the main resources). Fish is very important resource; fish market is very well organized.

The province is quiet dry and the land is fertile only along the coast. The main products are olives, cereals, almonds, grapevines, vegetables, flowers, linen.

Tourism has become very important for the last years.

Many Italian and foreign firms have their warehouses in Bari, thanks to the presence of the port.
